fot. Arteum.pl

Arteum.pl is an educational portal promoting all kinds of activities associated with widely conceived art therapy, or in other words therapy through art.

We wish our portal to actively take part in propagating methods, techniques and activities in the field of art therapy, which in connection with methods used traditionally in medicine or education greatly enhances ways of functioning of people touched by illnesses, elderly people, and children. (e.g. treating pain, curing depression, relieving the symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, working with dyslectic, dysgraphic, and dyscalculic students among others).

To everyone who is keen on partaking in building a platform for exchanging information, experiences, and observations on art therapy in Poland and worldwide, Arteum.pl portal offers attractive forms of cooperation.

Towards authenticity, towards what is true, natural, based on feelings, spontaneity, individual expression and visions. Art-making, which is based on inner reality, not culturally distorted, unhindered by artistic formalism, acquired knowledge or binding trends, is a message full of meanings, information about the author, his way of perceiving and comprehending the world. Reading and interpreting emotional indication contained in the picture bring us closer to the patient’s real problems and conflicts, hidden desires, fantasies and anxieties.

Art-making of people affected by diseases, suffering from social exclusion and put on the sidelines of existence amazes us by inventiveness, the intensity of meanings and directness of artistic expression. Art-making is a source of satisfaction for the patient, boosts his sense of fulfilment and develop self-esteem.

The organisers of the conference hope that theoretical content of lectures and reflection on the art exhibition will provide an opportunity for skill-sharing and an exchange of views and conclusions drawn will overcome stereotypes and prejudice.
We extend our invitation to the conference to all people interested in practical and theoretical art dimension: occupational therapists and art therapists, doctors and artists, psychologists, teachers, etc.
